Oversea Moving Tips
Two Months Before the Move
Inform the following as to the dates of your departure and the forwarding
address for all outstanding bills:

Banks Post Office
Club Membership Relatives and Friends
Credit & Charge Cards Schools
Embassies Solicitors
Hire Purchase Company Stocks and Shares
Notify Landlord Tax Department

Car Insurance, Health Insurance, Home Insurance, Life Insurance

One month before the move
Select a well-respected mover & get an estimate
Back up your personal computer
Decide on the items to be shipped for air and for sea
Disposal of excess or redundant items
Give away / sell plants or used furniture / appliances
Prepare insurance valuation list
Visit your dentist to obtain dental records
Visit your doctor to obtain medical records

Check all documentation required for the country of destination:
Resident Permits, Visa, Tickets, Health Records

Arrange for the following items: International Driver's License, Personal Accident and Medical Insurance, School Records, Traveler's Check

Two Weeks Before The Move
Give notice to discontinue these services
Dry cleaning
Electricity / Gas / Water
Grocer
Magazines subscription
Newspaper delivery company
Reduce / dispose of all frozen or perishable foods
Telephone company

One Week Before The Move
Confirm & check following:
Bank record Birth certificate
Flight arrangements Hotel arrangements
Identity card Insurance policy
International Driving License Marriage certificate
Medical and dental records Medicine
Passport School record
Tickets Traveler's check
Make an Inventory list

During The Move
After packing, check all rooms, closets and patio etc with the supervisor to make sure that all items have been packed, loaded into the container

Arrival at destination:
Make sure you complete and submit import Customs forms and other important documents for clearance of shipment (photocopies of passport and letter from employer) Give special instructions to engage specialist for assembling grand piano, water bed or pool table.

Prior to Shipment Delivery:
Make special arrangements for cleaning or renovation (if required) to be completed two days before day of delivery
Give some thought to the actual placement of furniture or heavy items

On the Day When Shipment Arrives:
Check your moving Inventory - check against the number for items delivered to ensure all items are received and direct them to the respective rooms. Let the supervisor know if you want to unpack certain boxes on your own. See if there are any visible signs of damage. If there are any missing items or damaged goods, make a list and call us. File a claim as soon as possible and notify your moving consultant
